Dramatic Scenes of the forerunner – Luke 1:5-17

Luke begins the life of Jesus Christ with three dramatic scenes which surrounds the coming of the fore-runner of the Messiah – that is John the Baptizer:

The Priest and His Wife (vv. 5-6) – The introduction of Zachariah and his wife Elisabeth. Two righteous and faithful people in the Lord.
The Prayer and the Wisdom of God (vv.7-13) – They had prayed for many years for a child but knew Elisabeth was way passed her biological calendar to bear children, but God chose these two to bring into the world the forerunner to Jesus Christ.
The Pronouncement and the Way of God (vv. 14-17) – The pronouncement of the Lord by the angel Gabriel brought overwhelming joy to the priest. The way of God isn’t like ours. It would take a lot of humility on our part to go to God and surrender our will.
