Elisabeth’s Joy
Elisabeth’s Joy – Luke 1:39-45
Now Mary pregnant with our Lord Jesus Christ goes to visit Elisabeth and we see three reasons for Elisabeth’s joy:
The baby recognized the great presence (v. 41) – Mary hastens to go see Elisabeth, whom she knew, a godly woman and submissive unto the Lord. And the great presence which the baby John recognized is the presence of one handmaiden of the Lord who was altogether willing and obedient to the word of God.
The lady Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost (v. 41) – Elisabeth was very much in-tuned with the same words of which God gave to angel Gabriel to give to Mary! Because Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost and being filled with the Holy Ghost, there is great joy.
The lady Mary has come to visit her (v. 43) – Somehow, she knew the seed of the woman who would crush the enemy as promised back in Genesis would come shortly. She just didn’t know through whom – and now that young lady; Mary had come to visit her – she rejoiced greatly.
Application:
If a faithful vessel like Mary were here physically, will you recognize her?
True joy comes from being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Mary stands for a walking miracle. Miracles are a cause for true joys in our life. Did you know that to be born again is a miracle?
