They Lost Him – Luke 1:41-52

Luke 2:41-52 talk about the time when Joseph and Mary lost Jesus in a sea of humanity in Jerusalem. Let’s look at the five movements of the narrative:

What was the feast of the Passover? (v. 41)
Why did they bring Jesus? (v. 42)
A day’s journey had elapsed before Joseph and Mary realized Jesus was not with the caravan. (vv. 42-45)
They found Jesus “sitting in the midst of the doctors (that is, the teachers of the law), both hearing them, and asking questions.” (vv. 46-50)
His uniqueness as a two-natured person is what was necessary to fulfill God’s plan to redeem the world. (v.52)

Application for our use:

Jesus said, “I must be about my Father’s business.” Christian, are you about your father’s business?
Jesus “went down with them… and was subject onto” His parents. Christian children are you subject to your parents.
Jesus increased in all aspects of His life. Christian, have you increased in all aspects of your life?
